Air Conditioning Installations FAQs
Answering common questions about air conditioning installs.
We install a selection of high-quality systems to suit different needs and budgets:
- Bosch 3200i – efficient, compact units ideal for bedrooms, home offices, or smaller spaces.
- Bosch 7000i – premium units with advanced features, suitable for living rooms, conservatories, or larger open-plan areas.
- Midea Solstice – versatile systems that balance performance and value, ideal for garden rooms or loft conversions.
- Midea Breezeless – quiet, unobtrusive units perfect for bedrooms or study areas where low noise is important.
A multi-split system allows multiple indoor units to be connected to a single outdoor unit. This is ideal when:
- You want to heat or cool multiple rooms independently.
- Space for outdoor units is limited.
- You want a neater installation with fewer outdoor units.
Suggested uses by space type:
- Garden room or conservatory: A single unit like Bosch 3200i or Midea Solstice works well, or a multi-split if connected to the main house system.
- Loft conversion: Bosch 7000i or Midea Breezeless for quiet, efficient heating/cooling.
- Home office: Midea Breezeless for minimal noise, or Bosch 3200i for energy efficiency.
- Residential office: Multi-split systems allow individual room control and energy savings.
- Commercial spaces: Multi-split Bosch or Midea units can cover multiple rooms with a single outdoor condenser, keeping the installation neat and efficient.
An air conditioning installation depends on the system size and site layout:
- Single room unit: Typically half a day to a full day.
- Multi-split system (2–5 units): Usually 1–2 days.
- Complex sites or loft conversions may take longer due to additional ducting or wall work.
Choosing the right air conditioning system depends on several factors to ensure maximum comfort, efficiency, and aesthetics:
- Room size and insulation: Larger or poorly insulated rooms may need higher-capacity units like the Bosch 7000i or a multi-split system. Smaller, well-insulated rooms often work well with compact units like the Bosch 3200i or Midea Breezeless.
- Usage patterns: We consider how the space is used. Bedrooms benefit from quiet, low-energy units; living areas may need more powerful systems for rapid cooling or heating; home offices require consistent temperature control for comfort during work hours.
- Noise sensitivity: For spaces where quiet is important—like bedrooms, nurseries, or study areas—we recommend units specifically designed for low operational noise, such as the Midea Breezeless or Bosch units with silent modes.
- Aesthetics and wall space: We evaluate the available wall space, room layout, and interior style. Slimline or discreet units may suit modern interiors, while multi-split systems can be installed in multiple rooms with a single outdoor condenser for a clean, minimal look.
- Future flexibility: We also consider whether you may want to expand your system later, for example adding more rooms to a multi-split setup, or upgrading to a more advanced model without major reinstallation.
By considering all these factors, we can recommend the system that delivers the best balance of performance, efficiency, and comfort for your specific space.
Yes. In the UK and most EU countries, any engineer who handles refrigerants, including installing, servicing, or repairing air conditioning systems, must be F-Gas certified. This is a legal requirement to ensure safe handling of fluorinated gases, prevent leaks, and protect the environment.
Key points:
- F-Gas registration ensures the engineer is trained to work safely with refrigerants.
- Only F-Gas certified engineers can legally install, maintain, or recharge systems.
- This applies to all systems containing refrigerant, including single-split and multi-split units.
- Using a certified engineer also protects your warranty and guarantees, as many manufacturers require certified installation.
In short, for any Bosch or Midea air conditioning installation, the engineer must be F-Gas registered to comply with regulations and ensure your system is safe and covered under warranty.
All our air conditioning installations are carried out by engineers who are fully F-Gas registered and qualified.
